Biography

The Indian American Civic Forum presented its first Thomas Jefferson Citizen of the Year Award to Charlie on February 10, 2001 for his efforts during the troubled negotiations over the planned building of a Chinmaya Mission in Cranbury.

A press report at the time quoted IACF President Ram Kolluri as follows: "Charlie participated in bringing all parties together. He tried very hard to make everyone sit together and talk instead of sue each other. He represents fairness and equal justice under law, in the spirit of Thomas Jefferson."
